Answer keys to A.K. Warder's Introduction to Pali

A.K. Warder's Introduction to Pali is the best Pali text around. The book contains only a limited number of solutions to its many exercises. These answer keys fill the gap:

Guide to Learning the Pali Language [John Bullitt]

Offers some suggestions on how to get started with Pali. Includes "Coping with Pali diacritical marks" and lists of Pali textbooks and reference books.

How to input/type Romanized Pali and Sanskrit in Openoffice 3 [Faqing]

Pali fonts

For an extensive review of available Pali and Sanskrit fonts, see Transliteration and Devanagari Fonts for Sanskrit, by Ulrich Stiehl. The Association for Insight Meditation's Pali Font Resources page offers several ANSI and Unicode fonts suitable for working with Pali.

Here are some fonts I can personally recommend:

Gentium: a free Unicode font that is both elegant and pleasantly readable both on-screen and in print.
URW Palladio Pali: a font custom designed to meet the Buddhist Publication Society's publishing requirements.
K.R. Norman's MyTymes and Normyn: available at "Transliteration Fonts for Mac users".
Pierre Robillard's DPalatino: an excellent diacritic font (for Macintosh only) that has been used for many years by Wisdom Publications in such books as The Long Discourses of The Buddha, The Middle Length Discourses of the Buddha, and The Connected Discourses of the Buddha. Available on the web from Columbia University.

Pali Language Tools

This website contains some interesting software tools and resources useful for anyone studying the Pali Canon. You will find wordlists of all Pali vocabulary, frequency lists, and Brahmi-script related information.

Pali Text Reader

This is open source software was developed internationally for reading and studying the Pali Canon. Lots of interesting features make it a useful tool for Pali study. A mobile version is also available. It is free of charge.

Pali Verb Conjugation and Noun/Pronoun Declension Tables [Bhikkhu Nyanatusita]

This remarkable collection of tables condenses a huge amount of grammatical information into just a few pages. A very useful reference for Pali students of all levels.

Web resources for Pali students

Links to other websites offering CD-ROM editions of the Tipitaka, Pali discussion groups, Pali courses, etc.
