Last updated 2003-01-08.
This page was put together in order to help other people interested in
learning Thai.
If you want to suggest changes, email walter@pratyeka.org.
The page legend is as follows:
- [T] TIS-620 encoded site (evil!)
- [U] Unicode encoded site
- [X] Non-standard site encoding (Java-based,
third language, etc.)
- [A] Audio
Courses
- LearningThai.com [T] [A]
Great site with quite extensive courses on speaking, reading, writing and
listening. Highly recommended!
- ThaiLanguage.com
[T] [A]
This site has a basic introduction to the language, but sports a fantastic
dictionary.
Dictionaries
- ThaiLanguage.com
[T] [A]
Thai language site featuring a large, highly recommended Thai dictionary.
Software
- Microsoft Windows
Update [T]
If you go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com using Windows, you should be
able to download Thai input. If you can't find it in the menus, download
a new version Internet Explorer ... the IE setup program lets you select
new language packs.
- Microsoft Thailand
[T]
Similar to the above, but if you're feeling more adventurous. Apparently
there's some fonts here somewhere.
- Virtual Thai Keyboard
[T]
A useful, Javascript-based graphical Thai keyboard.
Chat
- Pratyeka Unicode Chat
[U]
This is my site, which I pulled together in a hurry to counter the lack
of available Unicode chatrooms! It's not really built for a whole lot of
users, and it still has some bugs (like random occasional message-clearing)
.. but at least it works - unlike older versions of ICQ!
Miscellaneous
- Unicode
This is the future character encoding for all of the world's languages.
It is definitely the only way to go these days. Use it today,
and help bury the lingering horror that is TIS-620!
